Assignment
Lenovo was preparing to launch the Legion GO exclusively at Micro Center before any other retailer. They engaged Innomark to design an end cap solution that would showcase the new handheld gaming unit.
The challenge was to secure the device and prevent theft, while still allowing consumer interaction and complete product demonstration. The GO device’s unique detachable controllers required a custom security bracket vs. an off-the-shelf product. Innomark’s RWOB team had 30 days to design, engineer, and produce the fixture for launch. Our Design and Engineering teams worked with our in-house model shop to share solutions within a week and performed the necessary testing prior to launching in 50 stores a few weeks later.
A custom-engineered security bracket was less expensive and provided better product protection than off-the-shelf solutions. It also enabled consumers to interact with and explore the GO device without limiting its functionality. The design also includes backlit graphics that attract attention and educate shoppers on the benefits of the Legion GO.
Results
This program was successful in generating in-store interactions and sales during the designated time period. The client was pleased with the overall results and quick go-to-market strategy, as well as the custom security bracket and the cost savings it brought to the project.
